Evaluation of Pulsed Electric Field Polyphenol Extraction from Vitis vinifera, Sideritis scardica and Crocus sativus

This study exploited the application of pulsed electric field (PEF) on recovery polyphenols from aerial parts Sideritis scardica, tepals Crocus sativus, and fruits Vitis vinifera. Short pulses 10 μs in a period 1 ms were applied to plant material, while different intensities, 1.2 2.0 kV/cm tested optimize procedure. The content total polyphenolic profile extracts evaluated. Along with PEF samples, control samples prepared for comparison. treatment enhanced all three plants examined. A significant increase was noticed each condition applied, though lower intensities up 1.4 proved be more effective. Under optimum V. vinifera S. scardica C. increases 49.15%, 35.25%, 44.36% polyphenol content, respectively, achieved. Additionally, an 85% quercetin 3-rutinoside vinifera, 56% apigenin 7-O-glucoside 64% kaempferol 3-O-glucoside sativus obtained.
